Massimo Barlettani was born in Volterra in 1956. In 1989 he founded the advertising agency B&A and has received numerous awards for creativity. Over the years he has also been involved in art publishing and, with Zeta Scorpii Editore, conceived and published dozens of volumes. His ongoing professional contact with international photographers and artists has helped him develop a very distinctive artistic sensitivity.
His artistic research evolved from abstract painting toward a figurative reinterpretation of iconic elements, particularly female figures and natural forms. Since 2012 he has been exploring the theme of life and its symbolic representation through rarefied floral imagery.
Barlettani has exhibited in several institutional venues including Palazzo Oddo in Albenga, Ca’ dei Carraresi in Treviso, Palazzo Pretorio in Volterra, the Church of Santa Maria della Spina in Pisa, Villa Fiorentini in Sorrento and the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa in Venice, as well as at major biennials. Over the past decade he has expanded his international presence with exhibitions in London, Atlanta, Hangzhou, Toronto and Santander, alongside continuous participation in art fairs in many countries.
For several years he contributed to the magazine Arte In with a regular column titled The Finger in the Jam, where he expressed his views on the trends and contradictions of contemporary art. His works are included in important public and private collections, and he currently lives and works in Cerreto Guidi.
